Which States Have Some Of The Harshest DUI Laws?
You should, of course, never drive under the influence of anything,
anywhere. However, there are some states in our country where, depending on circumstances, you will definitely receive far more than a \"wrist slap\" for your first DUI conviction.
Massachusetts has a BAC level of .08. It also allows an arrest for \"suspicion\" of driving under the influence as well as the most potential jail time for a first offense. You can spend up to two and a half years in jail in Massachusetts for your first DUI conviction. Also, if there is a child under fourteen years old in the car with you at the time of your arrest, you can also be charged with a separate crime, child endangerment.
Arizona has a very broad definition for bringing DUI charges against an individual. Their BAC concentration limit, like Massachusetts, is also .08. Yet, there is some additional wording in Arizona law that allows great latitude for an arresting officer. You can be arrested if an officer believes you are operating a vehicle under the influence \"to the slightest degree.\"
Remember, never operate a vehicle under the influence of anything, anywhere. If you live in Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the state of Vermont, and have been
arrested or charged with DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
