Unintended Life Changing Consequences of DUI
It is obvious that nobody should ever operate a motor vehicle or any type of machinery if they are under the influence of alcohol or any other substance. Many people believe that the worst that could happen
from drinking and driving is that they swerve a bit while driving or they momentarily may cross over into the shoulder.
The truth is that drinking and driving can result not only in your death, if you happen to be the one doing the drinking and driving, but it could also very likely result in the death of someone else. This was the result of one woman\'s actions in San Luis Obispo County in California. Chelsea Stiles was under the influence of Cocaine when she crashed into the car of an elderly man, killing him. Her 18-month old
the daughter was also in the car, fortunately, she was not seriously injured.
Chelsea was sentenced to 15 years in prison for gross vehicular manslaughter as a result of her actions. In addition, she was also convicted of child abuse (for driving under the influence with her
daughter in the car) and misdemeanor possession of cocaine.
Always remember, it may seem trivial to you to get behind the wheel \"after a few,\" especially if it is something you have done in the past. All it takes is that one moment of impaired judgment or inattention to alter your life forever or end someone else\'s.
