Let Your Teen Know Prom Night Is DUI-Dangerous
Now that it is prom season, every parent should know that over the past
several years about 300 teens have died in alcohol-related accidents on
the road over prom weekend. In 2014 the AAA published a survey which
revealed that 31 to 41 percent of prom-goers admitted they would most
likely be drinking or consuming recreational drugs during their prom
night. Coupled with that, an astonishing 85 percent of those same teens
stated that they would rather drive impaired than risk calling their
parents for a ride, for fear their parents would discover their
intoxicated state.
Make sure your teens know that not only is underage drinking illegal,
but it also carries a zero tolerance policy. Whereas an adult can drive with a
blood alcohol content under .08, no amount of alcohol is allowed
to be in the bloodstream of an underage individual. If you live in
Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or
anywhere in the State of Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with
DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal
defense.
