Doctors Commit Crimes Too: Some Engage In Illegal "Pill Mill" Schemes
If your conception that a doctor is always an upstanding member of society that can do wrong, please reconsider. There are many cases of doctors prescribing narcotics and other \"street\" pharmaceutical drugs to those who do not need them. They then pay this \"patient\" for filling a
prescription and giving it back to the doctor to sell on the street.
If you run a Google search for \"doctor convicted murder\" you will find that in Texas a 61-year-old doctor was charged with “conspiracy to dispense hydrocodone and possession with intent to distribute
hydrocodone or carisoprodol.” This doctor is estimated to have made about 18 million dollars in conducting this scheme.
In all, over a nine-year period, the ringleader the person who was his accomplice wrote prescriptions for more than 200,000 doses of hydrocodone, 450,000 doses of promethazine with codeine, 55,000 does of
carisoprodol, and 14,000 doses of alprazolam.
It just goes to show, just because you are in a privileged position in society, it does not mean that you will get away with crime. Remember, under no circumstances should you ever engage in illegal activity. If you have been arrested for or charged with any crime, you need a lawyer who understands the law and the experience to defend your rights.
