Another Case Of A Family Suing A Bar That Served The Fatal Drinks
A family in Kentucky lost five members and the individual who caused the crash also died. His blood alcohol was over three times the legal limit.
With no recourse, the Kentucky family sued the bar that served the
drinks which brought the driver over the limit.
This case presents a fundamental question about responsibility. Should
an establishment be held liable for the actions of another? Are bars and
restaurants to require patrons to submit to a breathalyzer to order
another drink?
The State of California does not believe so, and, so far, neither does
its legislature. Many other states have similar views. After all, we
must be responsible when we drink, especially when we are in public and
must get home. If we all obeyed the very simple laws we have in place
about impaired driving, thousands of lives would be saved every year. If
you live in Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston,
Shelburne or anywhere in the State of Vermont, and have been arrested or
charged with DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and
experienced legal defense.
