An Oral Swab for DUI?
Given that marijuana is becoming either medicinally or just plain outright legal in many parts of the country, law enforcement is looking for ways to test suspected drivers of operating under the influence of the drug. The best and most efficient way to do this is to swab the mouth to check for THC (the psychoactive compound of marijuana.)
If you are stopped for DUI, you could be asked to not only take a breathalyzer, but also to have your mouth swabbed. Quite an invasion, no? However, you must comply and these humiliating tests alone should be deterrent enough from operating a vehicle under the influence. Oh, and the penalties are the same whether you have been convicted of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or marijuana, so be careful and never operate any vehicle under the influence of any substance.
