What Is A "Baby DUI?"

We all know that the universal blood alcohol level (currently) to be charged with a DUI is .08. However, if you are under 21, in many states that level can be .01, or just detectable. This has led many people to call an underage DUI with a lower BAC a "Baby DUI."

While the penalties are usually less severe, those convicted of a Baby DUI face many of the same penalties that those who are convicted of regular DUIs face. Penalties such as loss of license, fees, increased insurance, driver education programs, and community service. Students who are convicted of Baby DUIs can also face losing their scholarships and other academic awards and privileges.

If you live in Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the State of Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
