Some Summer Advice

Now that the season of cookouts and picnics is upon us, it should be kept in mind that summer offers even more opportunities to make the mistake of getting involved in a DUI charge. We are out more and are drinking at more locations that are not our homes.

Never drive if you have even the slightest inclination that you may be intoxicated. Summer drinks can give one a false sense of sobriety as many summer drinks are sweet and can conceal how much alcohol you are actually consuming. Always err on the side of caution - especially if you did not mix the punch yourself!

Don't have open containers in your car, it is against the law and will most certainly get the attention of officers if noticed. If you are packing up from a picnic, pack up the alcohol too. Also, remind you kids that they shouldn't drink and most states have a zero tolerance for underage drinking. Any amount of alcohol in the bloodstream is a DUI for those under 21.

You need an experienced defense attorney to assist you in keeping your record clean. If you live in Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the State of Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
