Beginning in 2019, authorities in Texas began investigating two separate drug trafficking organizations. Over the course of two years, agents
from Texas, the DEA and ICE gathered evidence and infiltrated the
organizations. The 35 individuals indicted were arrested for having 90
kilograms of methamphetamines, large amounts of cash, and a wide
assortment of firearms.
The defendants, in this case, all face between five and forty years in
prison for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute
quantities greater than a kilogram of methamphetamines. In addition to
the drug charges, the defendants also face up to 20 years each in prison
for money laundering,
The arrests of these 35 defendants show how well coordinated our law enforcement agencies are. They worked very well in tandem together and
called the investigations into each organization Operation Glass Joe and
Operation Island Time.
