Apparently, people are still not getting the message that it is NOT OK to drink
and drive. The statistics coming out of California for the 2018
holiday season are a bit alarming.
• During Christmas weekend, in California, there were more than 1100 DUI
arrests. That is almost two hundred more than the just over nine hundred
arrests made during the 2017 Christmas weekend.
• This past New Year's Eve, California officers made over eight hundred
DUI arrests, compared with about seven hundred in 2017.
• The numbers for 2018 compared to 2017 are a twenty percent increase
over the previous year (2016) as well. This year’s arrests have
surpassed those numbers yet again.
It is clear that people do not realize that if you drink and drive, you
are going to get caught. What is needed? More severe penalties? Of
course, the solution is never to drink and drive at all. If you live in
