If you are a child of the 80s you will certainly remember Robocop, the
AI robotic police officer. Like so many SciFi concepts from the 80s,
this one also may become a reality. In fact, in a certain way, it will become a
reality! Motorola has just patented a "mobile law enforcement
communication system and method."
This self-driving car will identify vehicles exhibiting impaired driving
behavior and pull them over. It will then instruct the driver to sit in
the back seat of the car where it will have sensors that will be capable
of analyzing the driver's breath while it calls for backup and even
contacts the courts to arrange bail if it determines that the driver is
under the influence.
Though the concept may be scary to some, in many ways it should be
comforting. The odds of an officer falsely accusing you of DUI drop to
virtually zero. However, this technology, though patented, is still a
long ways from being on the streets. If you live in Burlington, Essex,
Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the State of
Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with DUI or any crime, call
Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
