What Could Cause You To Violate A Restraining Order?

If you have ever been issued a restraining order, there are some things
you need to know. Most importantly, it is important to know what not to
do, so you avoid additional legal problems.

Among the actions which you should avoid if you have a restraining order
against you are the following:

Refusing to leave the residence where the petitioner lives
Visiting or being within 500 feet of the petitioner's residence
Visiting the petitioner's place of employment, school or other
prohibited location
Contacting the petitioner in any way, including email, texting, phone or
mail
Getting intentionally within 100 feet of the petitioner's vehicle
Harming or defacing any property of the petitioner
Refusing to give up your firearms
Committing any additional acts of domestic violence against anyone

If you have had a restraining order issued against you, you need
professional legal advice. If you have been arrested or charged with a
crime, it is important to get an experienced attorney to fight for your
rights and question all evidence against you. If you live in Burlington,
Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the
State of Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with DUI or any
crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
