Professional Licenses and DUI

f you are a licensed professional, such as a doctor, dentist or engineer, being convicted of a DUI can bring with it disastrous career consequences. Such was the case for a Texas neurosurgeon.

Dr. Patrick Rhoten was driving his Tesla "to work" when he crashed it into a grove of trees. When police arrived on the scene they suspected intoxication. Dr. Rhoten failed his field sobriety tests and tested for three times over the legal blood alcohol limit on his breathalyzer test.

After being convicted of a DUI he then lost his privilege to practice medicine for five years. For an individual this is almost impossible to survive, for a family, it is nothing short of catastrophic. Professional licenses imply public trust. Operating under the influence breaks that trust.

Always remember to never operate a vehicle under the influence of any substance. You are putting more than your life and the lives of others at risk. You are also putting your future there too. If you live in Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the State of Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
