New Jersey And Other States Preparing Labor Day DUI Crackdowns

If you are planning to visit New Jersey over the next few weeks, or
several other of our neighboring states, be advised that the upcoming
Labor Day holiday and the weeks before are one of the greatest DUI
crackdown times of year. One reason for this is that, unlike your
typical weekend when most people drive drunk after 11 pm, people drive
drunk as early as 1 or 2 pm around Labor Day due to cookout and beach
parties.

The Labor Day DUI crackdown in many states is done in partnership with
the nationwide "Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over" campaign you may have
heard on the radio or seen on the television or in Internet ads. The
campaign has been very successful and participating states arrested
1,196 suspected drunk drivers over last year's Labor Day weekend.

State and local police cannot just set up a roadblock whenever or
wherever they choose. There are strict guidelines in place in each state
and police departments need certain authorizations to set one up. If you
have been stopped at a roadblock and are suspected of driving under the
influence, it is your attorney's job to make sure the roadblock was a
legal roadblock and therefore a probable cause stop.

If you have been arrested or charged with a crime, it is important to
get an experienced attorney to fight for your rights and question all
evidence against you. If you live in Burlington, Essex, Colchester,
Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the State of Vermont, and
have been arrested or charged with DUI or any crime, call Handy Law for
aggressive and experienced legal defense.
