Iowa Preparing to Track "Last Drink"

In the state of Iowa will be a new program which will be to create a
database of establishments that those charged with a DUI took their drink
. The idea will be to make restaurants and bars think twice about
serving patrons who appear to be intoxicated.

The program will supposedly help identify establishments that routinely
look the other way when a clearly inebriated individual is ordering
another round. The data will ostensibly be used to notify places of
business that they should improve the ability of their bartenders and
waitstaff to identify already drunk people and cut them off.

Of course, the hospitality industry is against this as they are
concerned that the data will ultimately be used in lawsuits against them
or in penalties and fines. The industry argues that it is up to the
individual to be responsible for their alcohol consumption and not a
business' responsibility to be a baby sitter. If you live in Burlington,
Essex, Colchester, Winooski, Williston, Shelburne or anywhere in the
State of Vermont, and have been arrested or charged with DUI or any
crime, call Handy Law for aggressive and experienced legal defense.
